I am a mom that loves the beautiful little things in life that capture your heart.
…A dad holding his son… a look between a couple… the amazing little toes of a newborn… the forever in a married couple’s eyes…
I did a photography course in 2010 at The Photography Institute, and it started out as a hobby but turned into something I can’t do without..
In 2012 I did a make-up workshop at Elizabeth Beauty School in PE, so now my hobbies can be combined..
I also attended a wedding workshop at Let’s make Pictures in September 2012, and I’m so grateful about the knowledge I’ve learned from them!
“Don’t just dream it.. Do it!” and that’s what I did and still doing!

Life is a precious gift from God. A fleeting miracle. Flashing by way too fast. Every so often we have the privilege of experiencing a special moment. One that is out of the ordinary. That we wished time would slow down for… just a little. But everyday life too has its moments of awe – a new life, a first step, a new love – when we yearn to stay in the moment… just for a while.
We love to help you treasure those moments. To help you remember. To take you back to that time.
A husband and wife team, Waldo and Marti-Mari, we are both very passionate about photography. Something we share and have a growing love for. And although we both love it, we definitely each have a very unique approach to it. We each have an unique interest in it. We are probably as different as two people can be. And it shows. But that is one of the things that makes us such a good team when it comes to our photography. We see the world very differently. We experience it differently. We view it differently. And as a result the same scene is captured from different, but complementary perspectives.
About the name… “Living Light” is both a play on words and the way that we hope to approach life. Light is probably the single most important factor when it comes to photography. It is the one thing that it all revolves around. The one thing that you absolutely cannot do without. We are also called to be the light the world. And photography is possibly one of the most tangible ways of doing that. Of capturing. And giving. And showing love.
Becoming first time parents ourselves in 2015 – I (Marti-Mari) have a special interest in newborn photography and have recently been focusing on newborn, child and family photography. Although it has been a growing passion for years, it has taken me nearly as long to take the leap to a more serious venture into photography. Having completed a BSc. degree in Architecture, a B. Consumer Science degree in Housing and a postgraduate diploma in Marketing and Advertising Communications Management, I have always been a creative. An artist at heart – expressing myself in images and words. From the school girl whose favourite subject was art, photography was a natural progression. During my time as a student at Stellenbosch University, I explored my interest in photography by completing a Photography diploma course at Boland College. During my Architecture studies at the University of Pretoria, black and white film photography and development was part of the curriculum for one of my subjects. In the interim I have been busy with a host of other things. But the photography spark was once again ignited for me, when Waldo and I completed Photography and Lightroom courses together.
My whole life I yearned to do something creative but did not know what, as creativity and art is a very broad subject. It is only until his year that God laid upon my heart my talent for photography. I found a passion deeply hidden in my soul and open a gift and ever since I opened it I can not stop looking at it. It fullfills me . And this is why I enrolled dor your course because I love people and love children and love to photograph them. We each are special individuals, children of God and I can not think of anything more special than to capture each one’s individuality and soul..warms my heart…
Im a full time teacher, mother of a beautiful girl and boy and wife. I have a passion for small children ever since i was little. I dont see my teaching (to 4 year olds (currently)) as work but as a calling that God has given me. My photography passion is a part time, fun hobby. I started 2years ago. I still learn every day as i go. I love to capture your little one and give you memories to cherish for a life time.

I love capturing the memory, the feeling, the emotion and the connection behind the photo… I have always loved making pictures. To me, it has everlasting value because of the memory behind the picture. I love seeing people happy, loved, content and thankful. A picture says a thousand words, and pictures are my way of talking. I’m very thankful for the blessing of living what I love!

My name Is Ilze De Smidt and I just love what I do! I like to capture those special moments that will last for ever. Every photoshoot is unique because every client is unique in its own way.
Photography has always been a passion of mine. I studied photography for a year and after that went working on a cruise ship, as a photographer, in the USA. I came back deciding I want to try out videography for weddings. That was 9 years ago and we still do wedding videos, and we love it. But about 4 years ago, when my first child was born, I decided to take on child photography again, and haven’t looked back since!! I am living my passion and absolutely love taking pictures and capturing those special moments in people’s lives! My 2 little girls are my muses and inspiration for my photographic career, I absolutely Love them!
I thank God for giving me this talent and creativity to be able to capture other people’s memories and let them enjoy it for a lifetime.
