Hello. My name is Nickola and I would love to photograph you and capture your family memories. I am based in the leafy-green suburb of Kloof, just outside Durban, where I work from my beautiful home-based boutique style studio. Celebrating your pregnancy journey and the birth or arrival of your precious newborn baby, is one of life’s most amazing experiences. There’s is nothing more precious than tiny, wiggling, stretching little newborns — those first few moments, days and weeks vanish in the blink of an eye. It is my job to capture every adorable detail and create beautiful, timeless images that you’ll cherish forever. Before becoming a mom for the first time, I was also a qualified BASI Pilates Instructor. This is where my interest in anatomy and human movement began. As a result, I have a strong understanding of newborn safety (something I never compromise on) as well as a sincere respect for new moms and women as we reach and celebrate the many milestones that make up our own lives! I would love to show YOU just how incredibly beautiful you are — as a mother, as a wife and as a women. I want you to celebrate every chapter of your life’s journey. And I want you exist in photographs so you can pass them down to your grandchildren to look back on and enjoy. Let me help you celebrate your life’s journey, whether it be falling pregnant, having a baby, celebrating your children’s milestones, laughing with your family, or simply embracing your 40’s, 60’s or even your 80’s. I come from a strong film photography, PR and marketing background (from Marylhurst University in Oregon, USA – 1997) and have been passionate about creating and capturing images since I was a child. I would love to hear from you and help capture your special memories!

My passion is capturing and sharing “once in a lifetime” moments for clients to treasure for their lifetime and also for generations to come! I am a mother of 2 and though seeing how fast my children grow and develop their own unique personalities, I’ve realized just how important it is to capture every moment. If anything, we need to gather memories, in the form of photos, so we can reminisce one day about these forgotten times.

Tonia van Wyk, developed a love for photography and writing at a tender age. She started photographic work on a part-time basis and pursued studies in various disciplines of photography but finally decided to specialise in the fields of maternity, hospital and newborn photography. This mother of one, is a professional photographer with an eye for detail and an artist and writer’s heart. She enjoys adding something different to her work. She brings contentment and love to people through her art, it was only natural that photography would also become one of her greatest passions. She currently resides in the Kimberley, South Africa. When she’s not behind her camera, she enjoys spending quality time with her son Rohan.

Newborns are so tiny and so perfect. I love to hold a newborn, to smell their newness, their soft velvety skin, how perfectly curly they are, and always in awe at how quickly they grow and change. I am a mum of four rambunctious boys aged 2 through 13. I am also a wife to my love of nearly half my lifetime. I love Jesus. And am so grateful for this beautiful life I have, and the beautiful newborns I regularly get to hold. I am also a mother of a daughter who now resides in Heaven- and so I am all too aware of how fleeting and more importantly, how precious time is. Holding a baby, and getting to capture those beautiful early days with parents, is such a beautiful gift- both for the families I photograph, and for me. Getting to hold their new babies; and feel I have a part in their story, is such a beautiful thing. I live in and work in the beautiful coastal town of Ballito, KZN, South Africa, servicing Ballito, Durban and beyond. My absolute passion of the last 8 years is newborn photography, though I am also a lover of family and child photography; and the craziness of capturing life on the go.

I’m Suzanne, a portrait photographer based in Port Elizabeth specialising in maternity and newborn, through your little one’s first year and their first birthday party cake smash. Pinwheel Pics was established in 2015 after I fell in love with photography, particularly sharing precious moments between parents and their children. The most beautiful moments happen organically when a family is relaxed and comfortable. This is why I love having the opportunity to shoot in the privacy and comfort of your own home. I also shoot in my intimate home studio and enjoy working outdoors. I was rated in the Top 10 of Admired in Africa toddlers category and have ranked in the Admired in Africa Top 20 Portrait Photographers 2015. Even though I am not a formally trained photographer, I have developed my skills while second shooting for a well-established videography company, My World Creations. I believe that this has taught me the value of capturing precious fleeting moments. I am full-time music teacher at a school in Port Elizabeth but shoot every chance I get. I enjoy being able to be creative in more than one art form. I would love to share in your family’s journey. Suzanne

Newborn Art – “My aim is providing boutique, timeless imagery. Turning every moment into a memory and every memory into art. Babies are so special to everyone, and being a mother myself, I realise how fast they grow up and how important it is to capture as much as possible from newborn, to baby to toddler. Every little memory is precious. Even little details like their tiny toes, the tip of their nose, their itsy bitsy tiny fingers. It brings me so much joy!”
