Hello. My name is Nickola and I would love to photograph you and capture your family memories. I am based in the leafy-green suburb of Kloof, just outside Durban, where I work from my beautiful home-based boutique style studio. Celebrating your pregnancy journey and the birth or arrival of your precious newborn baby, is one of life’s most amazing experiences. There’s is nothing more precious than tiny, wiggling, stretching little newborns — those first few moments, days and weeks vanish in the blink of an eye. It is my job to capture every adorable detail and create beautiful, timeless images that you’ll cherish forever. Before becoming a mom for the first time, I was also a qualified BASI Pilates Instructor. This is where my interest in anatomy and human movement began. As a result, I have a strong understanding of newborn safety (something I never compromise on) as well as a sincere respect for new moms and women as we reach and celebrate the many milestones that make up our own lives! I would love to show YOU just how incredibly beautiful you are — as a mother, as a wife and as a women. I want you to celebrate every chapter of your life’s journey. And I want you exist in photographs so you can pass them down to your grandchildren to look back on and enjoy. Let me help you celebrate your life’s journey, whether it be falling pregnant, having a baby, celebrating your children’s milestones, laughing with your family, or simply embracing your 40’s, 60’s or even your 80’s. I come from a strong film photography, PR and marketing background (from Marylhurst University in Oregon, USA – 1997) and have been passionate about creating and capturing images since I was a child. I would love to hear from you and help capture your special memories!

What can I say, I am 48 years old and have decided to give up everything and pursue my love. I have loved photography since I was in my early 20’s but have never owned a decent camera to consider doing photography as a profession and besides that fact I never thought I was good enough. :) Now that I am a big person, and know what and who I am its time to relax on pressuring my amazing kids to pose and as they say if you do what you love, its never ever a job. I don’t believe in making someone, someone they not, natural beauty is far more attractive. I love to capture the beauty within. Penny Katz

I fell in love with photography many years ago, and I continue to use it as a way of expressing my creativity. I specialise in Maternity, Newborn and Family Photography. The beauty of capturing a unique moment in time is what inspires me to pick up my camera. Knowing that I am creating a time capsule for the future, not only for the people involved but for their children and grandchildren, is priceless. I enjoy taking portraits of children, families and pregnant mothers, however I am most passionate about newborn photography. Newborn photography is about the joy of capturing the promise of something new and a life only just beginning as well as the innocence and love for something so perfect. I have received training from some of the top international photographers and regularly attend newborn photography workshops. I also subscribe to various online photography forums where I research new ideas and tips. I have a private, purpose built, climate controlled natural light studio allowing you to feel comfortable and at ease. To ensure I capture the best photographs of you and your family, I use state of the art lighting equipment and some of the best professional camera equipment and lenses. The support of my husband and son is unwavering, enabling me to dedicate extra time, be it after hours or on weekends to pursue my passion. I just love being behind the lens and look forward to sharing special moments with you.

A little about me… I, Sarah-Jane van Heerden am the owner and photographer of Sarah-Jane Photography and one whom has an absolute love for clicking away and seeing the love through the lens and making special memories for families. Specialising in newborns, maternity and children is not my only forte, being a professional photographer with years of experience, just about any photographic service is met, however, I do not do weddings – for this you call a specialised wedding photographer. Sessions at my studio or location are totally relaxed, leaving you feeling happy and excited to see the outcome. Being a mother of 3 children, I have the ‘nack’ with kids, which warm up to me rather quickly.. so I think ha ha! That goes for our furry family members too! I love capturing pets, they are such special family members! When i’m not shooting, i’m probably eating cheese, running, or saving the world one dog at a time :) Please contact me for your photographic requirements, I would so love to meet you!

Photography has always been a life long ambition of mine. Ever since I got my first point and shoot camera at the tender age of 12, I developed a love for capturing special family events. Looking back at that moment it was the beginning of a beautiful journey full of ups and downs and a thirst for framing the perfect moment. I have come a long way since then, especially after my son Warren gifted me with a Canon Rebel T4i, my passion for photography has reached a whole new level. Today I belong to the best camera club in Durban, Westville Camera Club and am loving every second of it. “Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film IS CAPTURED FOREVER… It remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.” Aaron Siskind. Premila Naidoo Prim Photography

Hi! I’m Tanya Jacobs, a Durban-based wedding photographer. I started photographing in high school, using my best friend as a model and my grandad’s Sony. My first DSLR was a Panasonic Lumix and then a Nikon. I still use and love Nikon.
Family is everything to me. I am married to an amazing man, Christiaan, who is often my assistant and support at weddings (and in life) and am the proud mom-owner to three Scotties and one cat. I am organised, passionate and a little too obsessed with ensuring details are perfect.
I love travelling and spending my time doing anything creative. In 2015, my goal is to broaden my photography to include more newborn styled shoots. I believe capturing important and special days in a person’s life is a blessing and to capture the very first few days of a baby is an honour.

My love for photography began following the birth of my gorgeous son in August 2008. At the time I had been working as a physiotherapist for 8 years, but felt a career in photography suited my lifestyle and passions and filled that creative gap that was missing in my medical career. I spent and still spend many, many hours researching photography and trying to develop my skills. I used to feel like a ‘fake’ photographer for a long time as I had been so used to formal training, clinicals, degrees, exams etc and would compare my work (and still do) to these amazing photographers all over the world and just know that I have a very, very long way to go and yes I still do! I am so inspired by so many photographers out there and am so grateful there are so many of them willing to help their colleagues develop there skills. There just seems to be no end to how many beautifully captured pictures one can take.
I love what I do, it fills every aspect of my life. My growing family is my inspiration as I seek to capture every one of ‘life’s little moments’. As a mom, I am keenly aware of the all-too-fleeting nature of childhood and the importance of having lasting images that are able to take us back to that time of happiness and wonder each time we look at them.
Capturing the very essence of a newborn or a child’s genuine expressions and natural beauty is not only extraordinarily difficult, but it requires a bit of patience and creativity. It is my soul objective to create timeless portraits that show your child’s individuality in an honest and comforting way. I want to write a storybook on a day in the life of your child, captured through pictures that warm your soul in difficult times and show the wonderful moments we all take for granted and have difficulty remembering.
I specialise in creative, non-traditional and contemporary portraiture of maternity, newborns, babies and children. I am passionate about creating images that will tug at your heart and bring a smile to your face each and every time you see them.

I made the decision at the age of 16 what I wanted to do with my life. As a creative being, I decided that once I was finally done with school, I would do something different with my life. Fun, creative and meaningful! Photography has been my focus ever since.
My specific area of interest…. People
My lens has always been drawn towards people. I simply adore the fact that every person has their own individual beauty, personality and flaws, and I thrive on en capturing those traits into a photograph.
I pride myself on my love of family unity and children. I believe that photographs are extremely important to aid us in remembering different stages in our family’s timeline. Fun, creative and meaningful…. These words best describe me and more importantly, my work.

I am passionate about photography and about capturing beautiful images that reflect your spirit and energy.
From Maternity and Newborn Photography where its all about the promise and growth of new life to tiny tots where each day is a great adventure. Don’t forget the families with bigger kids. It’s so important not to get bogged down in your day to day. To take time to make a memory, appreciate life and allow me to capture your amazing family. Growing up in the rolling hills of Natal perched on the edge of the spectacular Drakensburg gave me a huge appreciation for awesome beauty and wide open spaces.
Having three energetic boys has also influenced my style of photography in a big way. As a Mom I know how important it is to have happy relaxed children. It has also taught me how to channel the energy of little people to capture them at their best, bursting with life. Capturing moments of cheeky smiles and peels of laughter is what makes my images of your little Darlings so special.
